Nick felt the little Guy!
The other day I felt Ryder moving around. It felt like popcorn was popping in my stomach. I decided to feel the outside of my stomach to see if I could feel him. I pressed hard and could feel him just a bit. I was bummed; Nick was at Target getting protein powder. When he returned we could not feel him. The next day Nick was very ill. He had his head in the porcelain good most of the night and day. He was laying in the bedroom and I was on the couch. I started to feel the popcorn start popping. I ran into the bedroom jumped on the bed and took Nicks hand and pressed it on my stomach. After a few minutes there it was he kicked or punched not really sure. Anyway, Nick said,"That wasn't a pulse?" No because you do not feel it anymore and I do not have a pulse there. It was so cool!! That he could actually feel his little guy!! I can not wait until they get stronger and he really feels them!

Nick is an amazing future father!
Nick is going to be an amazing dad. He is already talking about when he grows up and all the pranks they are going to play on me while I am at work. He is a big kid!! He kisses my stomach every morning and every night! I love it. I can not wait until he will be able to feel the baby himself. That will be so great for him to feel more connected. I love how he can make it to every appointment with me! It is nice to have his support. If I need anything he is always ready to do something. Most of the time I just need to vent and really do not need anything. A few times he has went out to get me popsicles.
I just can not wait until he is a dad He is going to be amazing!

17.5 weeks pregnant
Nick and I went hiking today. The morning started off cold and rainy but later it warmed up and we thought that it would be a good idea to get outside. It was a nice hike.

When we knew he was a boy!
Today we went to an ultrasound school. They needed moms to practice looking at the heart. It was a great deal for Nick and I to sit and watch our baby move around for an hour. Plus they gave us a $20.00 gift card to Target for being a pregnant model. It was so amazing.
He was moving around so much! The tech even said that they have seen active babies but our baby seems especially active. He was sucking his thumb, doing somersaults, waving, showing off his feet and than it looked like he was running!! We have a feeling that we will stay active with this one. After all that movement he decided to to stretch out and that is when I notice right away that he had a penis. You see his belly and his legs now you can see what is between. It is not certain because they say at 17 weeks it still is early to tell but from the photo and the ultrasound tech confirmation it seems certain. Nick face was priceless when he heard it was a boy! We will know for sure in 2 weeks. We just love seeing him all the time. I think I only get one more ultrasound. That is a bummer. Nick will video this one. On the way home we were so excited and talking about the little boy. The first think Nick said was I am going to take him running at 11 at night. I said the baby needs to sleep. He said when he can not sleep he will put him in the jogger and take him out for a run. Studies say the sleep better with movement. So hopefully that will work!
Hiking in Moab Utah at 15 weeks
Today we went to Jo and Alex's wedding! Three Ladies and I decided to go explore the red rocks and the canyon. We found out the trail got washed out so we had a little adventure ahead of us. We bushed whacked most of the way, walked through many cob webs, got stuck in mud and finally made it to our turn around spot but not before we took a 15 week photo of baby. He needs to know how active he was while in my stomach.
Backpacking at 13 weeks
At 13 weeks some friends from work and I decided to do a 2 day backpacking trip. The doctor said I can only hike up to 10,000 ft. Well that is very hard to do in Colorado because we already start so high. We managed to find a nice trail. It was so beautiful. We camped by a lake and the mountains and wildflowers surrounded us. I was not too slow or too tired like I thought I would be. The biggest issue I had was my knee. Anyway, it was great and think that will be my last backpacking trip for a while.
10-13 weeks how I felt
These journals are a little backwards but I am trying to catch up missed entries. I was feeling great until 10-14 weeks. I started to feel nauseated and extremely tired!! I would go to bed about 6:45 or 8. Nick keeps telling me that is nothing new that is what I usually do and to stop blaming baby. He says it is not baby's fault!! What does he know he is not carrying him! I also had the craziest cravings!! I have not had fast food since high school. Well I went to KFC and had extra crispy chicken and mashed potatoes!! I had Boston Market and anything else I could get that was greasy!! Also my hunger would come on instantly and I would go crazy not having food near by!! I slowed my workouts down as well. | draft |
13 week Ultra sound and peddling
This was our second ultrasound and he looks more like a real baby. From the moment we saw him he was already moving his legs in a peddling motion. The ultrasound tech was great!! That was the first this she said, "he is practicing to ride a bike." It is so amazing to see the baby and watch him move. I feel much more connected to him. I think Nick does as well. Here is a photo of the baby belly at 13 weeks. Not to bad! I love this photo!!

Baby's first bike trip!!
On July 22nd we left to ride 900 miles of the Pacific Coast highway. I started this journey at 6 weeks pregnant. I knew that I might not feel well but I wanted to do it anyway and I would just take it easy. That is just what we did. It was so amazing!! We met so many wonderful people and saw so many incredible things. We started in Portland, Oregon and finished in San Fransisco!! We rode an average of 55 miles a day we had one rest day and stayed in 2 hotels. I had to go to the bathroom about 6 to 10 times a night that I needed a break from popping a squat outside the tent. I also wanted a shower. We saw whales, sea lions and the Red Woods forest. We also rode through the rain forest. We stayed in 15 different campsites were we met other bikers also riding the coast! I made sure to eat a lot and that was mainly PB&J. every morning we rode a bit to a new town to sit at a coffee shop and have breakfast and watch the locals. I didn't feel as exhausted as I thought I would and I didn't feel that sick. It was hard because I thought that with the large trailers I could slow Nick down. OH NOO, that didn't happen!! Although he did get about three flat tires a every other day which gave baby and I a much needed break. It was a trip that we enjoyed and did as a new family and hopefully the baby will see it with his own eyes!
My first visit to the doctor!
Before we left for our bike trip. I went to the doctor for the first time. It was surreal. While we were in the waiting room I started to feel so HUNGARY!! I remembered that I had packed a peanut butter Sandwhich for a hike I was going to do after the doctors visit. Nick said he should start a little business in the office selling snacks to all the hungary pregnant ladies. He left to get my sandwhich and with in a couple minutes they called me in. I told the secretary to please make sure he finds me when he comes back. I told the ultra sound tech that we can not do anything until he gets here and I eat my sandwhich. I had fun and it was so nice to have Nick in there with me. I laughed my butt off when I had to put my feet up in the stir-ups and the doc had to check inside me. I asked Nick are you ok seeing this? I was laughing so hard that my pelvis was jolting while she was trying to check. Nick asked when will I start showing and she said base on my body mass probably not until the 16th week. The ultrasound photo and stomach shot is at nine weeks. This was a few days after we returned from our bike trip!
